Chemicals

The EEB Working Group on Chemicals works on issues related to European Union Chemicals-related Policies, mainly the REACH Regulation. It consists of members of the EEB who have an interest in chemicals policies in EU Member States or on an international level. They come together in the working group to form EEB policy by sharing scientific evidence and examples as to what works (and does not) on Member State level.

Topics of interest to the group include (inter alia):

  • REACH and other chemicals regulations (RoHS, toys Directive, Pesticides, etc.)
  • Work of the ECHA, EFSA and OECD
  • Pollution
  • Health and Safety
  • Substances and group of substances of concern, such as PBT, EDCs, POPs, etc.
  • Cocktail effects
  • Substitution of hazardous substances
  • EU-US trade agreement
  • Toxic Free environment
  • EEB members projects and activities

The EEB Working Group on chemicals meets once or twice a year and is coordinated by the Chemicals Senior Policy Officer Tatiana Santos
