NGOs urge Barroso to tackle biofuel concerns
Environmental NGOs have written to President Barroso urging him to give due consideration to concerns raised in recent scientific reports concerning indirect land use change (ILUC) when assessing the sustainability of biofuels.
The green groups say the Commission must come up with a legislative proposal that gives each feedstock a specific ILUC factor that reflects their real CO2 emissions.
The letter was sent by BirdLife International, the European Environmental Bureau, Transport and Environment, Greenpeace and Wetlands International.
