EEB launches Ten Green Tests for new Danish Presidency

22nd December 2011

EEB today released the Ten Tests for Denmark which sets out what should be the green priorities for the six-month Danish EU Presidency in January.

“At this time, Europe really needs a Danish Presidency that will show that the way out of the financial crisis is through greening the economy. That means a Presidency that is ready to move beyond the rhetoric and lead the EU into making concrete progress in a number of key areas which up to now have been stuck in the Council,” said Jeremy Wates, EEB Secretary General.

Amongst other things the green group is asking for increased funding for Europe’s environmental fund (LIFE), legally binding national energy efficiency targets, and for a reorientation of the CAP debate for a greener reform. Click here to read more.

At the end of Denmark’s six-month Presidency, the EEB will release an assessment based on the Ten Tests.
