EFR (Environmental Fiscal Reform)
What is the EEB doing?
The history of EFR has been littered with watered down agreements of originally ambitious proposals. This has been true both at national and at EU level.
The EEB is lobbying EU institutions for effective environmental fiscal reform, and for meaningful use of economic instruments as part of an environmental programme. We monitor relevant legislative developments and follow EU initiatives on environmentally harmful subsidies - working towards their swift removal.
One of our main demands is a tax shift from labour towards the use of natural resources.
We also present our work at conferences throughout
