EU Budget
What is the EEB doing?
- The EEB has been taking part in the consultations in 2008 about the forthcoming Financial Perspective. Most of the work is done in cooperation with other environmental organizations with whom we form the Green 10 [see papers to the right]. We will pick this up again once the debate on this perspective restarts.
- In the framework of the Spring Alliance (www.springalliance.eu) we work on mobilizing EU funding for a ten year strategy to focus EU on “people and planet”.
- The agriculture budget is entirely linked to the content of EU agriculture policy where the EEB is active [see page on agriculture].
- In 2009, EEB’s Secretary General formed part of an Expert Group to evaluate the performance of the European Technology Platforms where businesses come together to discuss research and innovation needs to influence the way EU research funding is spent. He wrote a paper which clarifies what it means to connect research and innovation to the Grand Challenges, which should also give direction to EU’s research funding decisions.
